The Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), in collaboration with the company Meta, shared some safety recommendations to prevent WhatsApp users from becoming victims of fraud.<\/p>\n
Among the scams, users may receive a WhatsApp verification code by SMS message or call without requesting it, making it likely that some criminal is trying to break into the account<\/p>\n
To protect the account, it is important not to share the six-digit registration code that was sent to the phone with anyone, as this code is required to log in to the account. Also, two-step verification should be enabled on the WhatsApp account to add another layer of security.<\/p>\n
How to enable two-step verification:
\n- Go to Settings\/Settings
\n- Then click on Account and Two-Step Verification.
\n- At the end you need to check the privacy settings of your phone's voicemail. To prevent your WhatsApp account from being hacked through this system you need to change the default password and enable two-step verification.<\/p>\n
Do not fall into fraud with alleged loans to family or friends. Another recommendation from Profeco and Meta to avoid falling into any fraud is that in the event that a supposed WhatsApp contact makes an unusual request, such as a money loan, you should avoid it.<\/p>\n
In these cases they may be criminals who managed to access the WhatsApp account of a contact and start writing to ask for money in the face of a supposed difficulty.<\/p>\n
