Whenever you receive unfamiliar links, be careful, it could be a scam. The only thing you can achieve by entering the link is to expose your data and become a victim of a possible identity theft, which in the future would bring negative consequences for your pocket.<\/p>\n
The National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (Condusef) to prevent this situation constantly issues advice to be considered to protect ourselves.<\/p>\n
It's not that WhatsApp isn't secure, Meta's instant messaging app constantly implements security measures to keep users safe.<\/p>\n
But all the new features in terms of protection that WhatsApp can introduce are of little use if we are the ones who, at the push of a single button, provide the information to the cybercriminal.<\/p>\n
If you are contacted to receive support from the Municipal, State or Federal Government, without having requested it, consider that no Mexican government agency will send you a WhatsApp to offer you any financial assistance, just because.<\/p>\n
This scam is a form of phishing, whose purpose is to steal your personal and financial data to commit other crimes and even steal money from your bank account.<\/p>\n
If you are looking to obtain any of the benefits offered by the government, the best thing you can do is to access the website of the Secretar\u00eda del Bienestar at www.gob.mx\/bienestar to be aware of the calls for applications and registrations.<\/p>\n
Another very common case is when messages arrive asking you to enter and register to get a prize, money, voucher cards or discounts. Be wary of it, delete it immediately and try not to share it with your contacts.<\/p>\n
The best thing you can do to help other citizens is to report it. In Mexico City, this type of suspicious or fraudulent messages can be reported directly to the Cyber Police through their \u201cX\u201d account @SSC_CDMX or by emailing policia.cibernetica@ssp.cdmx.gob.mx.<\/p>\n
For the rest of the Mexican Republic, if you suspect any cyber crime or attack, report it to the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, at ceac@sspc.gob.mx.<\/p>\n
