As part of the celebration of the 58th Anniversary of the Mexican Petroleum Institute (IMP), the head of the Ministry of Energy (Sener) Rocío Nahle García, kicked off the construction of the first Catalysts Plant in Mexico, part of the energy policy and improvement, since currently the refining and petrochemical industry in Mexico does not produce them.
As part of his speech, he commented that the plant will have a production capacity of 890 tons per year, will generate one thousand direct jobs, as well as a savings of 80 million pesos per year, due to the fact that they are now imported from abroad.
The project to build an industrial plant for the production of catalysts is part of the necessary scaffolding to achieve the goal established by the President of Mexico to achieve energy sovereignty. The first catalyst production plant in the country will be built in Boca del Rio, Veracruz, at the Center of Technologies for Exploration and Production.
