The Chamber of Deputies installs the Labor Commission for the analysis and possible modification of the legal reform that seeks to reduce the working day from 48 to 40 hours in Mexico. The commission, established until March 2024, arises from a national agreement published in the Official Gazette of the Federation last December 15, with the purpose of constitutionally guaranteeing the right to rest of the working class and preserving national productivity.
The president of the Business Coordinating Council, Francisco Cervantes, warns about the financial impact for companies, mentioning that they have faced other social benefits for workers, such as the increase in the minimum wage and the elimination of outsourcing. He highlights the importance of analyzing the efforts of small and medium-sized companies, which represent more than 98% of the country's companies and generate 72% of employment, in order to understand their capacity to adapt to possible changes in the working day.
If you do not know how it will impact economically on your company if the working day reform is approved, come to us, at Priego Brito y Guzmán Juárez we will advise you.
