Proposes to include a section XXII to the Constitutional Article
This Monday, March 25, 2024, an initiative was presented to amend Article 73 of the Constitution to empower the Congress of the Union to issue a general law on cybersecurity and the rights of users of information and communication services. As part of the efforts made in Mexico, an initiative was presented to create the Federal Cybersecurity Law.
This amendment is for paragraph a), section XXI of Article 73 of the Constitution, to empower Congress to issue general laws on crimes committed through communication technologies, information and digital security.
It should be noted here that, on the side of the Senate of the Republic, there are some other initiatives in the same direction, promoted by the business sector. Such is the case of the proposal for the creation of a General Cybersecurity Law on which the Public Security Commission of the Upper House is working together with business organizations.
