PBGJ congratulates its founding partner Erik Manuel Priego Brito on his appointment as Executive Secretary of the Energy Law Academy.
After more than 2 decades of having started the legal practice; of believing, promoting, encouraging and exercising the academy incessantly; surrounded by academic family; since his mother María Elena Brito, has been a professor almost all her life, also exemplary, teaching various subjects of medicine at the Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco for almost 50 years; Also his wife María Teresa Guzmán Juárez has been a professor for almost 20 years and has always been recognized and appreciated, likewise his father José Manuel Priego Rosique, taught at the same University until his death. All of them have had clear, any social system, regardless of the form of government, requires good education, because this is the tool or means to acquire learning, knowledge is so broad and dynamic, that the formation of the individual must be continuous, therefore, it is vital their attention, since culture is a consequence. A cultured and educated people is valuable and has greater opportunities.
Therefore, for PBGJ, participating in the Academy is key to the development of the State, from the trenches of law, the flagship organizational tool, because only in this way will social transformation and economic growth in Mexico be achieved.
February 22, 2024, was a memorable day for the Firm PBGJ, since its founding partner Erik Manuel Priego Brito was distinguished as a member of the Board of the Mexican Academy of Energy Law AMDE, of which he was a member since many years ago, and which played a key role in his formation when he studied the Diploma at the Escuela Libre de Derecho. On the aforementioned date, the new Board of Directors 2024-2026 of the Mexican Academy of Energy Law was sworn in. AMDE, Israel Hurtado, the recognized leader of the sector, handed over the presidency to Dante San Pedro Yamil, its Executive Secretary, with experience in the public and private industry: PEMEX, SENER, CNH and private consulting; who in turn was relieved in his position by our founder Erik Manuel Priego Brito, who also has great recognition and long experience in the hydrocarbon industry, representing public and private companies for 24 years.
It is important to point out that for approximately 10 years, no new member had joined the Academy Council, being this last one distinguished for his merits, with the coveted invitation to be part of such a select and prolific Academic group; of which figures such as: Carlos de María y Campos Segura, Carlos F. Rodríguez Sámano, Thomas Mueller Gastell, Nicolás Borda Barrero, Aída Ceja Aguilar, Ariel Ramos Marcín, Cynthia Bouchot Preciat, Humberto Celis Aguilar, among many others, are part of.

Some of the commitments of the Neo Academia, as mentioned by President San Pedro, are as follows: to promote gender diversity and the inclusion of women in the sector, encouraging their active participation, which is why new areas will be created within the Academy for their active participation, as it is clear that the future of Mexico is in their hands; likewise, the development and training of new talent in various energy sectors, including renewable energy, in accordance with the commitments of energy transition and climate change, will be established as a goal; The promotion of research and support in development plans and current programs for exploration, extraction, transportation of hydrocarbons, the electricity market and natural gas supply; as well as the publication of a book coordinated by Priego Brito this year, with the participation of several experts, which will be published by the Chamber of Deputies and MAPorrúa.
