3.- Senate approves reform to the Amparo Law; judges may not suspend general norms

The Senate of the Republic approved, with 69 votes in favor and 42 against, the amendments to Articles 129 and 148 of the Amparo Law, to prevent judges from granting general suspensions that hinder the implementation of general rules.

What is intended? The purpose of the reform is precisely to avoid the abuse of the dictatorship of the robe, which generates a great deal of discretion in its affairs and violates the principle of legality.

The initiative also repeals the last paragraph of Article 129 of the Amparo Law. In this regard, it establishes the power of judges to exceptionally grant the suspension when the denial of the precautionary measure may cause greater harm to the social interest.
