Did you know? The Labor Reform that Increases Vacation Days is Constitutional.
The Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of Mexico has determined that the amendment to the Federal Labor Law, published on December 27, 2022, which increases to twelve days the minimum annual vacation period for workers with more than one year of service, complies with all legal requirements. This amendment is constitutional and does not violate the principle of non-retroactivity of the law.
The Court pointed out that the Congress of the Union has the competence to legislate on this matter, and that the purpose of the reform is to advance in the protection of the right of workers to rest, improving their health, fostering family coexistence and promoting recreation and culture. Furthermore, the reform does not affect acquired rights nor does it modify the legal consequences established under the previous legislation.
