Today, November 26, 2020, the magazine Energía a Debate published that:
On November 24, the Enel Group unveiled its 2021-2030 Business Strategy, which foresees investments of 160 billion euros, of which more than 150 billion euros would be invested through the ownership business model and some 10 billion euros through the stewardship business model, which could also catalyze some 30 billion euros from third parties.
In terms of planned investment in the property business model, almost half will be dedicated to power generation globally, with a total of €70 billion in renewables, expected to lead to some 120 GW of installed capacity by 2030, 2.7 times more than the approximately 45 GW installed today, according to the presentation made by Enel CEO Francesco Starace and CFO Alberto di Paoli.
Of this investment, approximately 10.1 billion euros will be invested in Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Peru), representing 26% of the investment; while in North America (United States and Mexico) the investment will be around 3.6 billion euros, approximately 10% of the total.
Enel will achieve an 80% reduction in direct CO2 emissions compared to 2017 (science-based target initiative, certified by SBTi) and contribute to the creation of more than €240 billion of GDP in the countries where Enel has a presence through local investments in generation and electrification.
By addressing decarbonization, the Group plans to create sustainable shared value for all stakeholders, e.g. 80% reduction in direct CO2 emissions versus 2017.
Enel is the leading private renewable energy operator with around 49 GW of total capacity worldwide, the world's largest private grid operator with more than 74 million end-users, as well as the private operator with the largest global retail consumer base, serving more than 70 million customers worldwide.
