For the first time since 2013, the barrier of three million light vehicles manufactured was not surpassed, in addition to the fact that the record experienced an annual drop of 2% and was 27.3% below its pre-pandemic level.
The global problem of semiconductor shortages, as well as the different variants of the Covid-19 pandemic and the increase in the cost of maritime transportation, prevented Mexico from surpassing the barrier of 3 million light vehicles produced in 2021, which is the fourth consecutive year of declines in car manufacturing.
