Tesla's Gigafactory in Nuevo Leon took a new step this week, as one of its main obstacles was obtaining environmental permits. However, despite this permit, licenses are still pending for final approval.
According to the permit obtained by the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, Tesla must comply with specific conditions regarding the use and management of the site where it will be located. The permit consists of the authorization to change the land use of the 260 hectares of forest land. Tesla Manufacturing Mexico estimates that the construction of the project will take 36 months and it is considered that it will require an investment of approximately 5,000 million dollars.
The plant will be Tesla's first electric car production facility in Latin America, through which it will be able to manufacture, import, export, distribute, store and sell energy storage solutions.
