In 2024 there will be no more permits and other petroleum products, despite the fact that there are currently only only 8 permits in force, the gasoline industry today. “All this year -and let's see how the next administration comes- there will be no more import permits,” said Alicia Zazueta Payán, president of the Mexican Association of Service Station Suppliers (AMPES).
At a breakfast with the media, the businesswoman also said that the importation of hydrocarbons and petroleum products has been a complex issue in recent years, since the Ministry of Energy (Sener) has not granted the corresponding permits.
Zazueta pointed out that the procedure to obtain the oil import permit exists, but the authority is not giving them.
“Although the procedure as such exists, it is simply not granted. by the energy policy of strengthening Pemex, so that we have a more competitive market and we can really see a differential price, a different quality for our end user, it is important to have more players in the market,” said Zazueta.
For this reason, he called for the fuel market in Mexico to be open and that more players are allowed to enter.
