Telcel Telcel, AT&T, Izzi móvil, Telcel, Movistar, Altan Redes and Alestra signed, before the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), the agreement “Actions for the prevention of spam in communications”. With this, they will block spam-type messages, such as frauds, collections, advertising, pornography, etc.
The objective, they explained, “is to join efforts and coordinate mechanisms to prevent consumers from receiving this type of messages, which are annoying and risky, and thus create a safe environment for the use of cell phones”.
Among the commitments is that each operator will define operational rules regarding the type of Application-to-Person (A2P) short messages that it will not accept or deliver to its network users, with the support of anti-spam systems.
“It is also agreed that each originating operator or aggregator will request the legal identity of any large user wishing to send messages directly or through aggregators.”.
It was informed that “this effort is part of the permanent coordination between the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) and the mobile operators to defend and protect telecommunications users”.
