Currently, the LFT provides that employers must pay up to 12 months of past due wages if they cannot prove a justified termination. The new proposal, which will be discussed in the Senate, adds an additional six months of past due wages if the employer or its legal representatives are shown to have engaged in corrupt practices, such as bribing public officials or presenting false facts during the legal process.
